Domson and Friends Day Party ft. Katie Pearson, Hunny Machete, LXRP & Ding Ding Ding (raising money for Trans Justice Project)

Four of Naarm’s best are uniting for a silly little day party in the Tote Bandroom to raise funds for the Trans Justice Project and celebrate every single birthday in October. Expect a queer as fuck afternoon of head banging art rock, post-punk post-pop, rage fuelled slut bangers, and plenty of dancing. Also, cake.

First up: The door bursts from its hinges. In a silhouette of smoke stands Ding Ding Ding. (And they’re sorry about your door. They’ll pay for that.) They’ll suck you in with their racing pulse, blending art-rock rhythm with head banging power-chords. Ding Ding Ding tear through their electrifying set with synth hooks and belting guitar riffs, pumping out ear worm after ear worm. 

LXRP are a three-piece chorus-pedal drum-machine post-punk post-pop Women's Rock Music band from Naarm in so-called Australia. It consists of vocalist Mish Furner, bassist Amy Rogers and guitarist/drum programmer Heather Jardany.

You might be familiar with Hunny Machete as a singer of sad songs but she’s done with that now. Inspired by the high-dopamine slut bangers of Kim Petras and Ashnikko et al, while also called to speak to the political struggles affecting our communities, she takes the genre beyond the lyrical domain of ‘I’m hot and I like to fuck’ to ‘I’m hot and I like to fuck and I hate cops’. We’re all angry, we’re all tired, we’re all sad, but let’s have a dance about it.

Closing out the afternoon, the iconic Katie Pearson will take over for an hour of power on the decks. The genre bending, unique and authentic selector and party starter that is Katie Pearson has been providing dancefloors in Melbourne with liberating dance floor experiences for over a decade. She has long been at the forefront of Australia’s queer dance scene, most notably as co-host of “gay ass disco”, The Outpost. A blank insignia, Katie Pearson avoids the tags and pinholes that genres create to take you on a musical journey where nothing else but having a good time really matters. 

Domson and Friends will also be slinging vinyl between sets to keep the good vibes going. It’s their birthday and they’re looking forward to sharing their eclectic taste with you.
