WAT Artists & Hopestreet Recordings present: Immy Owusu's 'Curly Hair' Single Launch, with special guests: Wild Gloriosa and Baraka The Kid

Following on from his globally praised 2023 debut album ‘LO-LIFE’, Immy Owusu’s new track Curly Hair captures the rebellious energy of being a ‘weird, creative and troublesome neighbour’ in an otherwise quiet Australian suburb. 

Drawing influences from Zamrock, Psychedelia and Highlife, Immy’s music was also described by his neighbours as a fusion of ‘Bob Marley, Hip-hop, and Heavy Metal.’

Layered with vibrant highlife melodies and crunchy rhythmic production by Sensible J (Sampa The Great, Cool Out Sun), Curly Hair is released on Thursday 20th February via Hopestreet Recordings.

Joining him to celebrate the launch will be two artists from his local Geelong music scene: Wild Gloriosa and Baraka The Kid:
 

WILD GLORIOSA takes her name from Tamil Nadu’s state flower Gloriosa, and creates music that feels familiar yet unique, hypnotic yet forthright, prayerful yet seductive. Her words encourage listeners to step into their own light and boldly trust ourselves along the way.

BARAKA THE KID is an exciting talent from the vibrant city of Geelong, bringing the rich culture of his African Congolese heritage. As a versatile rapper, producer, singer-songwriter, he quickly captivates audiences, gaining recognition for his unique blend of pop, R&B, and hip-hop. His mastery of storytelling through music touches on themes of love, personal struggles, and social discourse.
