Off the back of recent solo album ‘Move To The Trees’, folk rock artist Winter McQuinn will join guitar pop legends Girlatones for a free entry arvo show at The Tote on Sunday July 28!

Girlatones is the songwriting project of Jesse Williams (Leah Senior, Traffik Island, Baby Blue) with a fresh lineup featuring Leah Senior (the folk singer), Jack Robbins (Forever Son, Maxwell Brady Band) & Winter McQuinn (Sunfruits). Girlatones blend classic guitar-pop songwriting sensibilities with a unique sense of humour and energy.

The release of 2 EP’s & 2 LP’s between 2017 & 2020 saw the group support international acts such as Wreckless Eric as well as find support from local & international indie labels, Lost & Lonesome (AUS) and Meritorio Records (EU). Ahead of a new LP release, the full-band is back to play some old & new favourites.

Perhaps known as frontman of Sunfruits and the drummer for jade imagine, Winter McQuinn’s solo music explores psychedelic country and folk rippling with a free-ness similar to Nick Drake, Syd Barrett, Kevin Ayers and more modern 70s soft rock purveyors like Michael Rault and Drugdealer. His impressive 2021 debut album ‘A Rabble Of Bees’ marked the beginning of Winnie’s solo wanderings, showcasing his songwriting talents and DIY inventiveness.

Winter McQuinn’s follow up ‘Move To The Trees’ featured good friends Hot Apple Band, Elena Jones and Jaspar Robinson who together, under the guidance of producer Jesse Williams (Leah Senior, Grace Cummings) created a unique space through their artful intersections of hope and tragedy. A series of anthems for the future, settled in a post psych folk / 70s soft rock energy. This release saw McQuinn step up as a solo artist with a more sonically sophisticated effort and saw wide support from KEXP, Rolling Stone, RRR/PBS, Shindig and more.
